Description
The course was about Web3.0 and how it can affect us in the future. We discussed advantages but also what can be dangerous with new technologies. Talking about centralised and decentralised platforms and how Web1.0 developed. Also we learned what NFT’s are and how a blockchain roughly works. We created our own wallet and leaned that most NFT’s just work because of a hype community.
For our Final Project we discussed what we could do. After brain storming we decided that we want to create a metaverse for our university. Because of corona the connections between students from different study courses was not there anymore. So we built our own metaversa platform for meeting with other and also showing our skills.
At the end we also got two partners, our student cafe and the museum of crypto arts. Also we had a call with the lead developer at MOCA and he explained us how they are using hyperfy.io.
My Role
I was in the 3D architecture team in this project. Three of us focus on creating an environment and think which rooms will be necessary for our metaverse.
After blocking out the rooms the question came up which website we want to use. We started with spatial.io, because it’s a common platform. They also released a Toolkit to directly export unity scenes to their website. Sadly for us it was not possible to upload our scene, because the authorisation of our developer account took too long. But we could upload our blender project.
