Description
Tales of Elbe is an immersive VR project developed in collaboration with Stiftung Lebensraum Elbe (Hamburg, Germany). Stiftung Lebensraum Elbe is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving and preserving the ecological condition of the tidal Elbe region. Our aim was to promote Stiftung Lebensraum Elbe and their mission by transforming their impactful projects into captivating VR stories.
As a proof of concept, we chose the Wrauster Bogen project, where Stiftung Lebensraum Elbe successfully removed stones that were blocking the natural flow of the river Elbe. These obstacles caused fish to enter the tideway during high tide but left them unable to return to the main river, resulting in their entrapment and eventual demise.
In our VR experience, you will encounter the spirit of a fish that perished in this dried-up tideway. This ethereal guide will take you on a magical journey through time, urging you to save the fish and its family. Your task is to revisit the moment before the tideway dried up and confront the stone monster representing the obstructing stones.
Our goal with this project was to raise awareness among teens and young adults about the environmental efforts of Stiftung Lebensraum Elbe in a fun and engaging way. By transforming their work into an interactive application, we aimed to capture the interest of our target demographic, making them more inclined to take the first step towards environmental activism. We believe that by enabling people to listen and connect with the underlying issues, our project can facilitate a smoother transition towards a more sustainable future.
My Roles
In this project I had the following roles: Concept, Project management & Development. More precise:
- Concept of VR booth (Container) next to the real project next to the water
- Administration of our project management tool ClickUp and communication tool Discord
- Implementing version control Plastic SCM (including workshop for the team members)
- Logic/ Code: Stones monster attacks the player and throw stones (Unity Physics, Coroutines, Animation )
- Logic/ Code: Stones monster first attack with multiple stones from ground (Unity Physics, Coroutines, Animation )
- Logic/ Code: Shield gets up for protection if player rise the controller fast enough up
- Logic/ Code: Push monster away if player pushes the controller to the front
